To Demetrios, from Athenodoros the governor, from Amenneus of Teot, the potter of Machor.
While I was drawing water into the city, I was seized by Herieus Hesieus, a village guard, and taken to prison, and my water-drawers were released so that I could not escape from prison until I was given (drachmas) to put up my house.
When Athenodoros the governor came, I happened to meet him with a memorandum about these matters, and he wrote to Spartakos the overseer that my rights should be granted to me, and that Spartakos should send Ammōnios of the village to Herieus, and Ammōnios, having been persuaded, did not send until now. Therefore, I request with all supplication, since you distribute to all and do justice, to write to send to you the guard Herieus so that you may make the inspection regarding these matters; and when this is done, I will obtain help from you.
Good luck.

To Demetrios, who is with Athenodoros the administrator, from Amenneus, son of Teos, potter from those of Machor.
While I was irrigating the allotment of Polianthes from the 4th of the month Hathyr, Herieus son of Hesieus, the village guard, came upon me, arrested me and took me to prison, and drove away my irrigation workers, so that my land remained unsown. He did not release me from prison until I gave him 140 drachmas, having mortgaged my house.
When Athenodoros the administrator arrived, I presented him a petition concerning these matters. He wrote to Spartakos the overseer, instructing him to ensure justice for me. Spartakos wrote to Ammonios, the village supervisor, to send Herieus. Although Ammonios agreed, after receiving the letter he has not sent him until now.
Therefore, I request with all urgency, since you grant justice to everyone and act justly, that you write to the appropriate person to send Herieus the guard to you, so that you may investigate these matters. When this is done, I will receive your assistance.
Farewell.
